These people did not have that, they may have had to react and fight, but this was his responsibility. Did they not understand? This work was thrust upon his shoulders, he had to accept it and deal with it. They tried to explain the reasoning behind it, but he had no time to listen and he knew he wasn't getting it back. After he had woken up without it on they tried to tell him that he would not need it and that everything was okay. Knowing his HEV suit was not with him was what pushed him even further at this point, it would help him greatly in battle, but he would have to fight without it at this point. There were too many people around him, just another reminder of how important it was to be alert, he knew what could happen if he let something through. Except string theory, because Freeman doesn't seem to believe that in the series. Although I'm not the best at improv, I'll try my best to figure out the best comebacks to how Gordon would handle being at a con. As for the personality, I'll have to re-watch more of Freeman's Mind to get more of his smart and cocky attitude down to a point. Besides the sarcastic personality of Freeman's Mind Freeman, I'll print out a Black Mesa ID Card along with spray painting an old crowbar to make it look more like the Half Life 2 crowbar since I think it's a much cooler design than the HL1 crowbar.
But I'll definitely post pictures of it whenever I do it. Thanks for the suggestions for this cosplay, although it'll probably be a while until I'm able to find a con to pull it off at with work and etc.
